Activation of NemKonto for wamo customers in Denmark

What is a NemKonto and Why Is It Needed?

A NemKonto is a designated bank account used in Denmark to receive payments from public institutions, such as tax refunds, social benefits, and government payouts. It allows the Danish government to transfer funds directly to individuals and businesses securely and efficiently.

Every business operating in Denmark is required to have a NemKonto to receive payments from the Danish state. Therefore, wamo enables clients to link their account to NemKonto using a foreign LU IBAN from Banking Circle, which ensures compatibility with the NemKonto system.

What You Need to Know Before Setup

  • Wamo clients must use a foreign IBAN (LU IBAN) from Banking Circle, not a DK IBAN.
  • The registration will need to happen on https://kontakt.nemkonto.dk using your MitID, and the detailed steps are outlined below.
  • If you mistakenly use a DK IBAN, registration will fail, and you may need to wait up to 12 weeks to try again.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Locate Your LU IBAN in Your Wamo Account

  • Your LU IBAN should be visible in your Wamo account admin panel.
  • If it’s not visible, contact Wamo Support.

Step 2: Download and Complete the NemKonto Registration Form

  • Go to https://kontakt.nemkonto.dk.
  • Select "Business""Form for foreign NemKonto holders."
  • Download the form and fill it out with the following details:
    • IBAN Number: Your LU IBAN (provided in Wamo)
    • Swift Code: BCIRLULLXXX
    • Bank: Banking Circle S.A
    • Address: Boulevard de la Foire, 2, Luxembourg
    • Currency: DKK
    • Leave the registration number and account number blank

Step 3: Upload the Form


Step 4: Confirm the Registration

  • You will receive an activation code by mail within 30 days.
  • The code is valid for 30 days. If unused, you must restart the process from the beginning.

Key Reminders

  • Use the correct IBAN: Using a DK IBAN instead of an LU IBAN will cause the registration to fail and may delay the process by up to 12 weeks.
  • Check your IBAN: Ensure that the LU IBAN is visible in your Wamo admin panel before starting the registration process.
