For four weeks, wamo donates €0.01 for every transaction made through a wamo POS or with a wamo Visa debit card in Malta. On 26 December, we'll double the total and present it live during the L-Istrina telethon.
Every Boxing Day for decades now, Malta has gathered for L-Istrina, the national charity telethon supporting the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation. The annual broadcast raises funds for families and individuals facing medical crises and financial hardship.
This year, wamo is joining that tradition in a way that makes giving as simple as running your business. Every payment processed through a wamo POS or made with a wamo Visa debit card in Malta contributes to the cause.
How it works
From 28 November until 26 December: wamo donates €0.01 for every transaction processed through a wamo POS or made with a wamo Visa debit card in Malta. Businesses operate normally, customers pay as usual. No extra steps, no added costs.
26 December: In a moment celebrating what wamo merchants across Malta have achieved, wamo will reveal during the L-Istrina telethon the final total — and double it.
Why this matters
The Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation addresses both medical and social needs. That includes specialized medications for chronic illnesses and cancer, treatment for rare diseases, travel costs for patients seeking care abroad, wigs for individuals with medical conditions, specialized equipment and therapy programmes for people with disabilities, household appliances, food vouchers, and essential items during difficult times.
For many Maltese families, these aren't supplementary services. They're the difference between accessing life-saving treatment and going without.
